Calculation of molecular and radical product yields in water coolant under reactor radiation

Description
A method for calculation of molecular and radical products yields in water coolant under conditions of reactor irradiation is proposed. Energy absorption ratios for basic radiation types (gamma-, alpha- and neutron radiation) in the WWER-440 reactor core and in a ring gap between thermal shield and reactor vessel wall are determined. The evaluations performed made it possible to calculate radiation-chemical yields of basic products of WWER-440 water coolant radiolysis (H, eaq-, OH, H2O2, H2, HO2) in the above-mentioned reactor zones at different boric acid concentrations (0.4 and 8 g/l). 10 refs., 3 tabs
