Nonstationarity of the angular spectrum and radial density distribution of a relativistic beam in a neutral gas

Description
Time changes of angular spread and density distribution of nonmagnetized relativistic electron beam (REB) (0.5 MeV, 30 kA, 45 ns) in neutral gas are investigated. Change of beam configuration - from cylindrical to turbular for the time shorter than REB current pulse duration has been discovered. It is shown that the angular spectrum rebuilding occurs at a velocity of up to 2x107 s-1 which can considerably affect the beam relaxation in neutral gas
