= 6 shell structure from three-body dynamics

Description
Three-body dynamics for the 6He and 6Li ground states are used for the first time to investigate the shell structure of these nuclei. Shell orbital probabilities, configuration-space single-particle orbital densities, and two-particle wave-function amplitudes in j-j coupling are calculated. The predicted orbital probabilities differ significantly from shell-model values except for those with core excitation. The need in shell models for core excitation may actually reflect required three-body dynamical effects
