Perturbation calculations for a model neutron liquid
Description
Perturbation corrections to energies obtained by variational methods are computed for the "homework" neutron liquid. First, the Jastrow wave function is optimized by means of the paired-phonon analysis. Next, effects of three-particle correlations are estimated through a second-order perturbation calculation. Both corrections are small, amounting to about 5% and 1%, respectively.
