The Darmstadt superconducting linac
Description
Since the superconducting injector of the accelerator produced a first beam in August 87 the first half of the main linac (two cryogenic modules containing four superconducting structures) has been installed. Four channels of the newly developed rf control system have been built and successfully tested with the main linac, three defective tuners have however prevented a beam test using all of the installed structures simultaneously. The beam from the injector linac was used routinely for atomic and nuclear physics experiments during the course of this year. (orig.)
