Recent developments in magnetic resonance imaging
Description
Magnetic resonance imaging permits the visualization of anatomical structures in the living human brain with unprecedented spatial resolution and contrast. Recent developments, however, not only significantly improved anatomical imaging but have also added totally new and novel dimensions to MR imaging, namely the ability to measure and image functional, physiological, and metabolic parameters in the human brain. These applications are ultimately limited by signal-to-noise ratio of the MR methodology and therefore are helped by the recent introduction of high magnetic fields for the use of human studies
