Project of an experiment on search for the neutrinoless double beta decay of 48Ca
Description
A study is made on possibilities of experimental search for the neutrinoless double beta decay. The up-to-date theoretical aspects of the problem, different mechanisms of 2β(0ν)-decay, matrix element values are discussed. The experiment flow sheet is suggested, the expected backgrounds of the device are calculated. It is shown that the use of β48Ca isotope in amounts of 10g may increase the experimental limit with respect to half-decay period up to Tsub(1/2) >= 2x1022 years, which corresponds to the upper limit for msub(ν) <= 20 eV Majorana mass of electron neutrino
