Problems related to energy and electricity demand forecasting and power generation in the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya

This paper corresponds to some extracts of the results of a case study conducted jointly between the Libyan Energy Authority and an International Consultant with the objective to assess the economic viability of the nuclear power option within the wider framework of the expansion of the overall energy supply system for the country. The learnings of the process are reviewed in this paper and some of the principal results are illustrated at the end in graphical form. Major recommendations of the study are also summarized. A review of the situation of the supply and demand energy system of Libya is also discussed. (author). 7 figs
