Study of PVC membrane uranyl chemical sensors based on new diphenyl phosphinyl derivatives

Description
Uranyl ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) have been fabricated from poly (vinyl) chloride matrix membrane based on three different new diphenyl phosphinyl derivatives. The electrode prepared with BDPPM, using dioctyl phthalate (DOP) as a plasticizer, possesses the best potentiometric response characteristics, including a fast response time and response slope. The electrode shows a linear response towards uranyl ion over the concentration range of 3.2 x 10-6 - 3.0 x 10-2 mol/L with a slope of 29 +- 0.6 mV/decade in tris buffer solutions of pH 3.0. The electrode exhibits a high selectivity for uranyl over other common ions and has a satisfactory reproducibility
