Progress is reported on the following studies: 1) photoelectron spectroscopy (ESCA) using the nitrogen 1s level, 2) electric field induced shift in tunnel junction barrier parameters, 3) electrode and barrier effects on inelastic electron tunneling, and 4) ESCA chemical shifts using sulfur- and chlorine-containing molecules
