Irvine 82Se experiments
Description
The large difference in half lives implied for 82Se by a cloud chamber experiment and by geochemical methods remains unresolved. The need for a definitive direct counting measurement of the 2 nu double beta decay half-life, and the great interest in searching for 0 nu decay, have motivated the construction of a new TPC experiment sensitive to both modes. The cloud chamber and TPC experiments are briefly described
