Assessment of radiation load of patients during radiodiagnosis

  • 1. Institut Hygieny a Epidemiologie, Prague (Czechoslovakia)

Description

Approaches are summarized to the evaluation of radiation risk in the examination of patients with X-ray radiation. The concept of the mean dose in the body is related to health sequellae, while some simple formulas are presented for the estimate. Approaches based on the effective dose concept are discussed including the effective dose equivalent according to ICRP recommendation No. 26. Examples are presented showing differences in the individual approaches. (author). 2 tabs., 10 refs
