Description
During the construction and installation of IRASM multipurpose irradiation, IFIN-HH developed a consultative and technical program to assist medical device, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics manufactures with the development, validation and technological transfer of radiation processing. The main goal of the program is to assemble technical and regulatory expertise and promote ionizing radiation sterilization technologies in the manufacturing process of the users. An important aspect inside the program is the validation of IRASM laboratories (microbiology, dosimetry, physical testing) in order to offer a complete package of services for users. The program will help IRASM - National Interest Facility to pass the promotion period in a shorter period of time and with minimal costs. The main results of program till the commissioning of IRASM irradiator (July 2000) are: - Issuing brochures (guidelines) for radiation processing (3 were published in 1999 and one was edited in 2000); -Organizing a Seminar for radiation sterilization microbiology and validation, with the support of International Atomic Energy and Romanian Health Ministry; - R and D projects RELANSIN, co-financed by industrial partners (3 started in 1999, 4 selected by a competition in 2000).
