Fatigue crack growth rates of structural alloys at 4K
Description
Crack growth rate data is summarized for nine common structural alloys tested in a liquid helium environment. Data include material condition, chemical composition, grain size, hardness, and tensile properties. Results indicate that ΔK (stress intensity factor range), Young's modulus, crystal structure, and phase stability are the primary factors governing fatigue crack growth at liquid helium temperatures
