Description
The propagation of magnetosonic waves in an arbitrary planar current-free magnetic configuration is solved explicitly with the help of conformal transformations. The role of critical points, X- and O-points, of the magnetic configuration is discussed. Relevant examples are presented. These include the propagation of magnetosonic waves in a magnetic configuration with an island structure. (orig.)
