Method of measuring effective multiplication factor of spent fuel assembly
- 1. Nippon Atomic Industry Group Co. Ltd., Tokyo
Description
Purpose: To improve the working efficiency of the multiplication factors. Method: Neutron affecting bodies such as neutron absorbers or neutron reflectors are disposed near the periphery of desired portions of spent fuel assemblies disposed in water. At least one pair of detectors comprising a neutron detector and a γ-ray detector are disposed at the portion where the neutron affecting bodies are disposed and at another portion. The effective multiplication factors of the spent fuel assemblies at the portion where the neutron detector are disposed are determined based on the ratio of neutron counting rates and the γ-ray counting rate measured by the detector pair. According to the method of the present invention, since the measuring device can be maintained with case and there is no requirement for the measurement of several times, the working efficiency can be improved.
