Description

Recently the existence of pairing-free rotational bands in deformed A≅100 nuclei has been postulated as a result of a particularly strong [νg7/2, πg9/2] interaction. In order to obtain more insight into the question of pairing reduction in this mass region, RPA calculations have been performed and compared to experimental data on β-decay half-lives, log ft values and energies of two-quasi-particle states. Our results indicate that pairing is reduced by (only) 50-60%. Furthermore, our calculations do not show a significant correlation between [νg7/2, π9/2] coupling and changes in the pair field.
