Description

Uranium ternary intermetallic compound UCoAl is a uniaxial 5f band metamagnet with the critical metamagnetic field below 1 T. Electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility studies, presented here for a new high-quality single crystal, show strong effects of spin fluctuations. A Non-Fermi liquid behaviour of the resistivity ρ ∼ T5/3 was observed over an extended temperature range up to 20 K in the non-magnetic state, while the standard ρ ∼ T2 is restored in the metamagnetic state. The pressure effects on electrical resistivity are envisaged. (author)
