Lambda production in Si + Au collisions at 14.6 A GeV/c

Description
Because of its large solid angle, the BNL E802 single arm magnetic spectrometer (25 msr) is able to detect particles via their decay products. Using a second level trigger, the authors could trigger on a proton and π- in the spectrometer. They present the Λ pt distribution and yield for Λ's within a limited rapidity window. A comparison with ARC and RQMD model calculations is presented
