Dynamics of cerium distribution during oscillatory extraction

Description
The dynamics of cerium distribution in a nonequilibrium extraction process are investigated. The results of the extraction of Ce ions from aqueous medium by tributyl phosphate with organic diluents are presented; the Belousov-Zhabotinski oscillatory reaction takes place during the extraction. Time dependences of Ce concentrations are obtained for the first time for the organic phase of oscillatory extraction system - they are synchronous to the dependences of redox potential. The effect of initial concentrations of Ce, oxidizer and organic substrate on the basic parameters of the oscillatory extraction is established. A conclusion is made about a possibility to control the oscillatory extraction process. 14 refs.; 4 figs.; 1 tab
