Treating the severe esophageal malignant stenosis with esophagobronchial fistula by stent placement

Description

Objective: To observe the effect of treating the esophageal malignant stenosis with esophagobronchial fistula by stent placement. Methods: Under fluoroscopic guidance, stents were placed in 27 patients with esophageal malignant stenosis accompanied by esophagobronchial fistulas. Results: All cases had their stents placed successfully, with immediately sealed up of fistulas. The dysphagia of the patients got obvious improvement without swallowing difficulty any more and the inspiration pneumonia caused by fistula was under control. Conclusions: Stent placement is a safe, effective and rapid method to treat the esophageal malignant stenosis with esophagobronchial fistula. (authors)
