Structure and properties of LaCo1-xCrxO3 solid solutions

Description
Properties of the mixed LaCoO3-LaCrO3 oxiole system have been studied and mutual influence of transition metal ions on the structure and physico-chemical properties of solid solutions LaCo1-xCrxO3 is detected. A continuous series of solid solutions is established to be formed in the LaCoO3-LaCrO3 system. Solid solutions LaCo1-xCrxO3 with x≤0.7 have the rhombahedron structure, and with x≥0.8 - the rhombic one. The presence of cobalt improves sintering quality of the initial lanthanum chromite. Dependence of resistivity at room temperature on chromium content passes through maximum at x=0.8. All solid solutions are p-type semiconductors. The coefficients of thermal linear expansion decrease substantially at x>0.7
