Description
The maximum likelihood tomographic method is used to study the reconstruction of radioactive fission products distribution in irradiated fuel pins from a very small number of projections. The method can be used to analyse the behaviour of the nuclear fuel during the irradiation and also for the improvement of the burn-up evaluation. The performances of the method are studied using phantom data which model typical distributions observed in CANDU type fuel pins. A method of optimally stop the iterative algorithm is suggested.
