Hemolytic properties of natural rubber obtained by γ-radioinduced crosslinking of latex
Description
It has been found that latex, as a natural product, contains some non-rubber-like substances which have hemolytic properties. Hemolytic activity can be increased or decreased, if the irradiation of latex is carried out in the absence or in the presence of a sensitizer, respectively. Addition of a sensitizer, that is CCl4, results in a significant change in the composition of the aqueous phase of the latex and after irradiation in formation of products with higher affinity towards water medium as the initial one's. On the basis of IR examination it may be supposed that the hydrophilic properties increase is due to the formation of additional hydroxyl groups in the molecule, while its chemical character is not changed.
