Performance of Nd:YAG laser and dye Q-switching

Description

A Nd:YAG laser with the pulse energy of 20 mJ, the pulse width of 12nsec, and the power density of 13.3 MW/cm2 was constructed using the Nd:YAG laser rod (58mmlg x 4mm diameter), the Xe flash lamp (50mm are 1g x 3.6mm diameter), the BaSO4 diffused pumping reflector, and the acetate Q-switching sheet. The laser power efficiency on the input electrical energy of 0.72% was obtained. The characteristics of the laser generation, the pulse shape, and the nonlinear transmission of the Q-switching dye sheet were studied. (author)
