Measurements of the poloidal plasma velocity in a stellarator

  • 1. Physicotechnical Institute, Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, Khar'kov

Description

A method is proposed for measuring the directed velocity of the plasma ions through the use of a scanning Fabry--Perot interferometer. The poloidal velocity of impurity oxygen ions has been measured under ohmic-heating conditions in the URAGAN-2 stellarator. The measurements show that the plasma ions have a velocity (1--3) x 105 cm/s in the direction of the diamagnetic electron drift
