Measurements of aerosol development when mixing and transporting solutions in reprocessing plants

Description
Aerosol measurements were taken at the place of origin in an inactive experimental plant with the aim or providing data for reliable pre-calculation for planning and construction of a reprocessing plant and for authorising authorities and experts. Further, aerosol measurements were taken in the containment waste gas system of the highly radioactive waste store of the Wackersdorf reprocessing plant. The strengths of aerosol sources when stirring and transporting with air and with steam (stirring in air, air ventilation, steam jet) depend on the number and size of the gas bubbles developed in operation and on the transport waste air (humidity content). The values determined from the BEATE containment waste gas test rig showed good agreement with those measured at Wackersdorf. (RB)
Abstract (German)
Mit dem Ziel, fuer Planung und Bau einer Wiederaufarbeitungsanlage sowie fuer Genehmigungsbehoerden und Gutachter belastbares Datenmaterial zur zuverlaessigen Vorausberechnung von Aerosolemissionen vorzulegen, wurden in einer inaktiven Versuchsanalge am Entstehungsort Aerosolmessungen vorgenommen. Darueberhinaus wurden Aerosolmessungen im Behaelterabgassystem des hochaktiven Waste-Lagers der WAK durchgefuehrt. Die Aerosolquellstaerken beim Ruehren und Foerdern mit Luft und mit Dampf (Luftruehren, Airlift, Dampfjet) sind von Anzahl und Groesse der beim Betrieb entwickelten Gasblasen und von der Transportabluft (Feuchtegehalt) abhaengig. Die mit dem Behaelterabgas-Teststand BEATE ermittelten Werte ergaben eine gut Uebereinstimmung mit in der WAK gemessenen. (RB)Additional details
