An effort to generalize Rehren duality: first impressions

The aim of this communication is to report on the programme of a project whose objective is to perform a through study of Rehren duality - a realization of 't Hooft's 'holographic principle' in the context of Algebraic Quantum Field Theory, as an one-to-one correspondence between quantum field theories in anti-de Sitter space-time AdS's and conformally invariant theories in AdS's conformal boundary, very much in the spirit of Maldacena's AdS-CFT Correspondence'; for this reasons, Rehren duality is also called 'Algebraic Holography'. The main ideas involved in its proof (due to Rehren) are outlined, and the directions to be taken in our project are briefly commented. (author)
