Three years to avoid the catastrophe. A decisive decade for energy transition. Consequences of the Ukrainian crisis: how to do without the Russian gas in three years' time

Description

A first article (of 3) comments the different ways of actions identified by the IPCC in its sixth assessment report in order to limit global warming: to abandon fossil fuels, to develop renewable energies and energy efficiency, and to better and more invest. A graph indicates potentials and costs of different mitigation options by 2030 for the different main sectors. A second article comments the statement of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) about the eight years to come which appear to be crucial to accelerate energy transition. Some priorities for 2030 are evoked, and a graph illustrates the possible evolution of emissions between 2018 and 2030 depending of the deployment of technological choices. Within the framework of the Ukrainian crisis, the last article comments the content of a study of possible measures for Europe to do without the Russian gas. The authors of this study notably propose quick measures in favour of energy efficiency, of usage electrification, and of renewable electric power production
