Annual report of the Institute for Nuclear Study, University of Tokyo, 1986

Description

Thirty years after the Institute for Nuclear Study, University of Tokyo, was established, efforts are now directed to materialize the idea that the institute be converted to a new institute which will actively pursue the frontiers of nuclear physics and related science by creating 'Japanese Hadron Facility'. The realistic site available is Tsukuba, where KEK is located; which is sufficient to accomodate the construction of new accelerators. Activities in the INS from January to December, 1986, are described: Nuclear Physics Division. Intermediate Energy Physics Division, High Energy Physics Division, Theoretical Physics Division, Accelerator Research Division, a proposal for the Japanese Hadron Facility. Interdisciplinary Research Laboratory, Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, etc. (Mori, K.)
