Laser desorption/resonance post-ionization of large PAH's: Ionization and surface specific fragmentation of decacylene
- 1. Institut fuer Physikalische und Theoretische Chemie, Technische Universitaet Muenchen, Germany, 85747 Garching (Germany)
Description
Laser desorption of large polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) has been investigated at decacylene (C36H18) as a test molecule. Translational quasi-temperatures of about 600 K have been measured. In addition, different fragmentation mass patterns due to resonance multiphoton ionization and due to neutral laser desorption has been deteted. The latter was strongly dependent on desorbing laser intensity and surface type. Glass, gold and tin surfaces have been used. Ionization of decacylene has been found to result in possible precursors of the C60 cation
