Submicroscopic response of tissues of different radiosensitivity to long-term chronic effect of gamma radiation
Description
The results of the electron-microscopic study of myocardium, liver, lymph nodes and spleen of dogs exposed to chronic irradiation in the course of 6 years (60Co, dose rates 21, 62.5 and 125 rad/year) are considered. Possible mechanisms of the biological effect of low-level radiation, at the subcellular level, are discussed, tissues varying by radiosensitivity being used as illustration
