Uncertainty evaluation of flowmeter using data acquisition system

Description

Instruments based on an analog to digital (ADC), the performance of data acquisition (DAQ) device has a direct impact on performance of the whole measurement system. Therefore we need to assess the uncertainty of the measurements which are transmitted to a data acquisition system in order to obtain the correct range of measurement reliability. This study has been carried out the monitoring of uncertainty based on data acquisition device from National Instruments for the measurement of currents and flow rate. The method used is to perform some experiments and data processing using LabVIEW in thermalhydraulic laboratory - BATAN. The objective is to obtain the value of the uncertainty of the data acquisition system of currents and flow rate measurement and identify the sources of uncertainty. The results shows the uncertainties of average current compared to the average actual current measurement is 0.5 %, and the uncertainty of the average flow rate measurement compared to the average actual flow rate is of 1.70 %. The conclusion that can be derived from this study is that uncertainties generated by the flowmeter is in normal range. That is, the data acquisition system device performance is still quite good, but the value of these uncertainties can be minimized by performing maintenance or perform calibration sources of uncertainty.
