Description
There are different types of heavy-ion nuclear reactions. As such, a new type called ''quasi-fission'' was reported from Orsey, France. This is described in relation with the compound nucleus formed by colliding a heavy ion with a nucleus. The compound nucleus formation largely differs from conventional one, so instead of compound nucleus, 'complete fusion' is used. The following matters are explained: approach of two nuclei to cause the complete fusion; complete fusion with ionic 40Ar; complete fusion with ionic 84Kr and quasi-fission reaction; and qualitative interpretation of close approach. (著者)Additional details
