Thermal stability of superconducting YBa2Cu3O9-x in different environments

  • 1. Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam (India)

Description

The controlled atmosphere thermogravimetric analysis carried out on the superconducting YBa2Cu3O6.98 phase shows the transformation of an orthorhombic I (OI) to OII phase over the stoichiometric range 6.79 (1033 K) and 6.68 (1173 K) in oxygen, followed by a narrow range of single phase OII. The OII phase then goes to the tetragonal phase (T). In the OII/T phase boundary the relationship log pO2=68.9-8.252X104/T is found to hold. The stoichiometric limit of the tetragonal phase and the OII/T phase boundary are discussed. 8 refs.; 4 figs.; 1 table
