Some features of π- inelastic scattering on protons in the momentum range of 30-60 Gev/c

Description

Experimental data on the inclusive differential cross sections rho of the π-+p → π-+X reaction at initial momenta Psub(o) = 33-60 Gev/c, four momentum transfer squared |t| = 0.004-0.05 (Gev/c)2 and 0.91<x<1 (x = P/Psub(o), P - the scattered particle momentum) are analyzed. In the missing mass range Msub(x)<2 Gev there is observed a peak in the rho(Msub(x)sup(2)) function which is mainly determined by the contribution of nucleon resonances. In the range Msub(x)sup(2) = 4-10 Gev2 there is no dependence of rho on the total center-of-mass energy. The dependence of the slope parameter of the rho(t) function on Msub(x) is found to correspond 18 and 8 (Gev/c)-2 at Msub(x)sup(2)<4 and 4<Msub(x)sup(2)<10 Gev2 respectively. The factorization condition is fulfilled with the accuracy of the +-15% for p,π and K-mesons at t approximately 0.1(Gev/c)2 in a broad range of x
