Orientation of the 33P state of helium excited by low energy electron impact
Description
Orientation of the 33P state of helium following excitation by 29.6 eV electrons has been determined by measurement of the circular polarisation of the radiation emitted in a polarisation correlation experiment. It is found that the angular momentum transfer Lperpendicularto is positive throughout the angular scattering range 40-1200. These results, together with previous electron-photon angular correlation data, provide a complete description of the 33P charge cloud excited. (orig.)
