Hydraulic flow modeling -- Uses and practical considerations

  • 1. PECO Energy Co., Wayne, PA (United States)

Description

As microcomputer programs for flow modeling of Service Water systems have become more sophisticated, the benefits of hydraulic analysis available to utilities have also increased. A sample of these benefits include easier flow balancing, demonstration of system operability in off-normal configurations, trending of pipe plugging, and prediction of system performance following modifications. This paper will discuss the benefits of flow modeling, as well as model limitations and considerations involved in preparing and maintaining hydraulic models
