Electric conductivity of pure and alloyed rare earth chromites at high temperatures
- 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Vysokikh Temperatur
Description
The electrophysical properties of La and Y chromites, both pure and doped (with Mg, Ca) have been tested in various media (air and argon) at temperatures of up to 2200 K. In air at 2200 K neither pure nor doped La and Y chromites undergo dissociative decomposition. The high electric conductivity of the chromites in air is due to oxygen absorption by the crystal lattice of the compound. Doping of the chromites with cations with a valence of less than 3 strongly improves conductivity at moderate and low temperatures. The effect of the matrix on the conductivity of a doped compound is significant- the conductivities of La and Y chromites have been found to be close
