Nuclear power plant insurance in Central and Eastern Europe

Description

It was only after the decay of the Warsaw Pact, accompanied by emerging democratic structures and abolishment of the state monopolies, that an insurance market with private insurance companies had a chance to develop in these countries. West European insurance companies and their associations assisted and participated in this development by sending representatives and establishing branch offices. The paper reviews the current insurance regime for nuclear power plants of the Russian design types from the angle of international insurers as well as German insurance companies, referring to achievements so far and the foreseeable development. Abstract (German)

Bis zum Verfall des Warschauer Paktes war der Versicherungsmarkt in den betreffenden Laendern noch nicht weit entwickelt. Erst mit beginnender Demokratisierung wurde das Staatsmonopol aufgehoben und private Versicherungsgesellschaften zugelassen. Westeuropaeische Versicherer begannen durch ihre Verbaende diesen Maerkten Hilfestellung zu leisten. Begleitet wurde dies durch die Eroeffnung einzelner Repraesentanzbueros und Niederlassungen bis hin zur Uebernahme ganzer Gesellschaften. Der Standpunkt des internationalen und natuerlich auch des deutschen Versicherungsmarktes zur Versicherung von Kernkraftwerken russischer Bauart wird dargestellt und von den Ergebnissen, die bereits erzielt wurden, und der Entwicklung, die zu erwarten ist, berichtet
