Anion-cation interactions in new compounds of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane(dabco) with closo-decahydridodecaborate(2-)anion
Description
In the synthesized new compounds of mono- and diprotonated cation of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane with B10H102- anion the cations and anions in the crystals are bound by a complex interaction, involving transfer of electron density via N-HN bond on vacant molecular orbitals of B10-polyhedron and reverse transfer of electron density on N-HN bond via hydride-proton contacts HN...HB; as a result hydroborate realizes both its donor and acceptor potentialities. 21 refs.; 1 fig.; 1 tab
