Description
Electronic structure calculations for two isofamilies, YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) and YSr2Cu3O7 (YSCO) high Tc cuprates, have been done for ambient and high pressures (-15 GPa<p< 15 GPa) by pseudopotential density functional theory in the local density approximation. Results show the transfer of hole charge in both CuO2 planes and CuO chains for both systems. It is concluded that in spite of the larger dTc/dp for YSCO in comparison with YBCO, the charge transfer in YSCO is lower than in YBCO. This apparent discrepancy has been explained against the pressure induced charge transfer (PICT) model. (copyright 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH and Co. KGaA, Weinheim) (orig.)
