Statistical aspects in fission mechanism of actinides

Creators

  • 1. Centro Informazioni Studi Esperienze, Milan (Italy)

Description

In recent years the fission mechanism of heavy nuclei has been widely understood, in particular the first step of the process, that is the deformation of the fissile nucleus. It is not clear up to now, however, which mechanism dominates the passage of the nucleus from the second saddle to the scission point, where the two final fragments separate. Statistical aspects of this mechanism are discussed for the actinide nuclei. (Auth.)
