Description

Data on charge distribution dQ/dy in multiparticle production in hadronic collisions is considered from the quark-parton model point of view. The model is based on the assumption that hadrons in the final state appear from recombinations of quarks and antiquarks. A sufficient amount of quarks and antiquarks are produced during the collision. Valence quarks keep large momentum fractions during the collision. Calculated dQ/dy and the experimental data are compared for the π-p interaction at 360, 147, 4O and 16 GeV/c. The calculations reproduce well the data at 360 and 147 GeV/c whereas at 40 and 16 GeV/c the model disagrees with the data. This indicated that the charge distribution is given by the charge of valence quarks which are distributed in a hadronic collision in a similar way as in free fast moving hadrons
