Estimate of acoustic-optical criterion for some tellurites
Description
An estimation of the averaged criterion of accoustic-optical interaction (M2) was carried out for a series of tellurites (Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Cu, Mg, Sr, Ba, Zn, Bi, etc.). The empirical criterion M2=n6p2/rhov3, where rho is the density, n is the refractive index, p is the photoelastic constant and v is the accoustic velocity, shows whether a given material may be used for the production of modulators and deflectors of laser radiation. Tellurites of Pb, Bi and Cu exhibit relatively high values of M2
