Fuel pool cooling system

Description

Cleaning for water in a storage vessel and water injection into a reactor pool were conducted by way of separate systems. However, it involves problems that the constitution and the operation become complicated, maintenance inspection takes much time, etc. In view of the above, a fuel cooling system is constituted with a pump for transporting the coolants in the fuel pool in adjacent with the reactor pool to a cleanup device and a heat exchange and returning them to the fuel pool, a pipeway joined at one end to the upstream of the pump and connected at the other end to a water storage vessel, and another pipeway branched from the downstream of the cleanup device and connected to the reactor pool and the water storage vessel. In this system, since the cleaning of water in the storage vessel and water injection to the reactor pool are not conducted separately, and the operation mode can be switched by an operation of the pump and opening/closure of valves, operator's burden can be moderated. Further, since it is not necessary to increase the number of pumps, spaces can be utilized effectively to decrease the radiation dose upon maintenance. (N.H.)
