Description
A review of biological aspects of the water cooling regime of nuclear power plants is given. Intensity of turnover, increase of productivity, and structural variation in the individual biocenoses due to thermal loading and the specific conditions at the Lake Stechlin are analyzed. In spite of eutrophication phenomena, the Lake Stechlin has kept its oligotrophic state after 25 years of operation. (author)
