Description
An s channel approach to non-diffractive two-body reactions at high energies is reviewed. The amplitudes are described in terms of one single peripheral Regge trajectory α(s) in the s channel [Re α(s)+1/2 approximately equal to k.R, R=hadron radius approximately equal to 1 fermi] and its analytic continuation α(u) to the u channel. Im α(s) is determined at high energies from Re α(s) via an (inverse) dispersion relation. The resulting non-linear, complex trajectory α(s) turns out to generate interesting t channel Regge (pole and cut) features involving an effective non-linear t channel trajectory α(t) approximately equal to α0-R/π√-t (for -t> approximately 0.25GeV2). Consequences are discussed, various tests and also new applications are presented
