Growth of nanocrystalline CdSe films by chemical bath deposition

Description

Nanocrystalline thin films of CdSe are deposited on glass substrates by chemical bath deposition method from an aqueous alkaline medium at room temperature. The crystalline sizes are determined from X-ray diffraction and are found to vary from 2.1 nm to 5.2 nm. The band gaps of the nanocrystalline material is determined from the U-V spectrograph and are found to be within range from 2.05 to 1.9 eV as grain size decreases. An increase of molarity decreases the grain size which in turn increases the band gap. (author)
