Creators

Description
This paper discusses the evolution of safety concepts in the design of Reactor Protection System (RPS) and the corresponding reliability improvements. Different types of logic schemes have been adopted in the design of RPS. A comparative evaluation of such logic schemes is briefly discussed. Reliability requirements for various types of RPS schemes have been specified during the design phase. A reasonably good amount of data has been generated based on the operating experience of Indian PHWRs. The performance of RPS has been assessed based on the analysis of such data. A comparison of the design targets and operating experience information has been performed and it is also briefly discussed
